Arbor Heights

Arbor Heights in Arlington, VA, will preserve 198 units of affordable housing along the rapidly developing Columbia Pike corridor. Formerly known as Magnolia Commons, the 65-year-old complex is being modernized by AHC Inc. Renovations will include new kitchens, fixtures and baths, and will improve the energy efficiency of the units. A majority of the units, 158, will be affordable to households earning up to 60 percent of the area median income ($64,500 for a family of four). The rest will be affordable to households earning up to 50 percent of the AMI ($53,750 for a family of four). Many of the units will be two-bedroom units to make them attractive to families, and four will be fully accessible. The project was funded by an Affordable Housing Investment Fund loan from Arlington County, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit equity, Arlington County Industrial Development Authority tax-exempt bonds and investment from AHC.
